Hi,
I'm Taiyang. I just finished the videos, and read a good book. The 10 essentials of Forex Trading by Jared Martinez. Very good book. I also bought Technical Analysis plain and simple by Michael Kahn. I look forward to hearing from all, good, bad, tips, success stories etc. I just downloaded the demo so I'm eager to start. I'm a beginner trader but have completed many hours of education on trading. I'm a finance student at the University of Hawaii, and I did an internship at conntinental broker in NYC.

Good Luck to all.

Hi, Taiyang! I really advise you to read through Forex Primer and to test-drive the trading system which is described in Lesson 10. It's a rudimentary trading system but you can add any other modifications and test it. If you are interested, please join our discussion at the thread called Trading System (Forex Primer). And if you want to strengthen your knowledge of Forex, join the beta testing of Colt FX (it's a completely new, unique project). You can read about it at the appropriate thread (Colt FX).

Good luck.

Hello Taiang

Welcome to the Forex Club forum.

I'm always ready to check out recommendations, so thanks for the tips on the books.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of Forex Primer - maybe it's a bit basic for you.

Let us know how you are getting on with the demo account.

Take care now and trade well.

Dennis

The Forex Primer is worth a look but IMHO (in my humble opinion) you should also go thru these lessons (http://www.babypips.com/school/)before even demo trading.

Charlie, I agree that the BabyPips guide is pretty solid; but would you really advise someone to go through a course without opening a demo account?

Surely, practice is the best prep?

First let's clarify opening a demo account and actually demo trading. To do any training it is a must to have a demo account. When you're learning Indicators, Ocsillators, Candlesticks Patterns, Pivots..... you need to get in your demo account and observe them BUT you don't need to demo trade them right away. What's the rush? Why is the Simple Trading System lesson 10?
For sure practice is good. But without sufficient training what are you practicing? I haven't read the books Tai has mentioned but I feel the "school" at BabyPips would only compliment his\her current training and prepare him\her to trade more constructively. I'm sure you've heard it before "I tripled my demo account in one month now I'm ready to trade live".
The message I'm trying to convey is treat demo trading seriously, whether you are testing a system or developing your own. And most of all take your time.

Now I see what you mean.

It's sound advice.
